La Paz Update 08/17/2020

As the summer progresses here in La Paz the water temperatures are running 4 to 6 degrees cooler than normal. The fishing pressure continues to-be very light and the bait situation is still excellent. Fishing most days for Dorado, Grouper and both red and yellow snappers has been good some days and off others. Reports from Las Arenas have been very good for small dorados and rooster fish. Limits are being reported most days. What has been off, besides the lack of fishermen, has been the tuna and blue and black marlin bite. August always produces some big marlin and this hasn't happened yet. Today we did see some big black marlin feeding at El Bajo but they are very picky and have been easily spooked.

The hurricane season has also been late this year and we now have lot's of activity in the southern Mexican waters. Hopefully these storms will produce rain and light wind and we can continue fishing into early November. Flights are really inexpensive and very light loads allowing everyone lots of space while in the air. All of us here at Baja Pirates look forward to seeing you.

Stay safe
Saludos!
