Very cool video, thanks for sharing that! Like the Canyon itself, the video had layers to it. Having floated through the Grand Canyon a few times, I can say it’s one of the most amazing adventures available to most and a real “must do” kind of experience. Floating it in one of those dories would certainly add to the experience too, though rafts are definitely a bit more forgiving of errors in the bigger rapids.
I’m very glad that folks like Martin Litton and David Brower (among many others) fought so hard to prevent the Marble Canyon dam from flooding much of the Grand Canyon, and gave me the opportunity to see and experience it. One of the ultimate of all river trips for so many reasons...words just fail to do full justice.

Check out Fedarko's book The Emerald Mile. Pretty cool story about the lives of the Grand Canyon River guides. Paints a pretty vivid picture of what that river used to be capable of before the dam. 10 story tall rapids! I don't think my Hyde XL Low Pro would cut it!

Such a wonderful piece. thanks for sharing Bill. And to think we use to have men like this that championed for mother earth and people didnt scream awful words at them and accuse them of being socialist wackos. Back when there was more decency in the world. smh.
