Default Central Valley Tailwater Fishing Success

Not going to name the river in case others fish it as well, but it’s one of the 6 tailwaters we have south of the American. Fished a size 20 PMD nymph I tied the whole day under a Caddis poopah. That seemed to do the trick. Multiple fish were hooked as well as lost in the 16+ inch class. Landed 2 large fish that were 2+pounds Caught a couple 12”ers as well. I also landed a sucker, pike minnow, and hardhead. Great day for August. This will keep me satisfied until the Salmon/Half pounders arrive.

    Beautiful......

Retired fly fishing guide Keith Kaneko always did well on the lower Yuba river because he fish really small nymphs.
