Looking for recommendations on an all around saltwater rod for Baja. I don’t have a mint to spend on it. Just want something that I can use for most fish fishing off a panga. Thanks!!!

TFO bluewater will cover what you are looking for and the prices are very reasonable. 10wt or 12wt depending what you are catching. Katz

I would buy a 9' #10 line in 4 piece for most species like Dorado, Roosters, etc.
For medium size Tuna and sailfish I would get a #12 line rod.
Big tuna and big Marlin some use 14-16 line size outfitts.
Some veteran Baja anglers will have 4 to 6 outfits set up in the boat.
Some with floating lines, some with slow sinking clear lines and some with very fast sinking lines.
Used or discontinues high end rods will be around $300-400.
Imported brand name rods like Redington, TFO and Echo will be around $300 new.
You do need a good reel with a good drag here unlike 90% of the fresh water fishing.

I have a few rods ranging from 10wt to 12wt. I have fished Baja over 25 years.
Most if not all rods are under $200.00 or less

Wasn’t sure if my trip to Baja was going to happen but it looks like a go. Instead of purchasing a saltwater rod and reel that I’ll probably only going to use once or twice, does anybody know where you can rent, either online or in La Paz, a rod and reel combination?
Try Kiene's in Sac?

Well, I have moved in the last year and retired to the Black Hills of South Dakota
If I hadn't brought all my rods home this past June, I would've let you use one. There is no where in La Paz to rent fly gear. When are you going?
