Default Summer salmon season opened, where to watch?

I hear a few are getting picked up at Discovery Park, does anyone have input on when to watch the AR? I'd really like my first salmon this year on the spey. I live right near watt access and gristmill. With flows up, is the water temp still cool enough?

Normally it’s a Fall river but they’ll trickle in starting in August. Word is the Sac is supposed to have a big run this year. That might lead to fish running up the American earlier than normal.

    Ross has it perfect......

Oct/Nov is our Fall king salmon run and I would go to Kiene's when Andy is working because he has it dialed.

If we get a good run you can catch them in specific places, wading with flies.

They do trickle in all summer and at 'dark thirty' AM they use to fish them right at the base of Nimbus dam on the north side.

The Sacramento and Feather rivers are better rivers for Fall salmon.

Late August down below Watt Avenue we get some Fall Half-pounder Steelhead.

That is an AM and PM deal swinging small #10-14 trout nymphs.

Right now, August/September, is Striper time in the lower American river.

Andy is going after them now.

I’d start now. Salmon do stray into other rivers they weren’t born in. With the higher flows out of the AR it’ll bring in salmon with the fresh water.

One idea is to catch migrating salmon coming in to spawn as close to the ocean as possible so they are fresh.

The mouth of a small, short coastal river would be the best.

Inside the mouth of a river fishing in the "tide water" is really great if you can find all the stars lined up at once.

The mouth of a tributary can be very good if you can find some fish holding there.

We have the mouth of the American, Feather and Yuba rivers where fishing for salmon is popular.

The Rogue, Klamath and Trinity river have runs of the vary from year to year.

The Rogue and Klamath have great fishing in the Fall in the lower reaches for fresh salmon.

Mostly boat fishing but some wade fishing too.

King salmon don't seem to always take a fly like a steelhead so sometimes they have lock jaw?
