    Default Ahi fever

Well it is June in Hawaii and the big ahi are on the chew. Got this one today, 160lbs.

Got this one on Monday, 170lbs.

Got this one last week, 120lbs.

Lots of nice steaks, great on the BBQ

This macnut poke with macnut oil was pretty good. Hope you all have a great father's day. I will be fishing.

    AaaLoooooHaaaaa, Don

Geez, that picture of the steak looks fantastic. I love poke too. Yummm You and your friends have really got it dialed in,

I've never fished offshore around Hilo, only the Kona side down to south point.

Maybe if they ever get this virus figured out making it safe to travel , we'll have to make a quick trip over again.

    See you soon,

We got introduced to sashimi on Christmas Island in the 1980s.

They caught Yellow Fin Tuna right off the island, daily.

They even had seared Tuna.....insanely good.

Hey Mems, looks like that would be a great fight on a 12 wt rod. Hopefully when all this virus crap is over, I'll get to take a trip to the islands. My air miles is now reaching 200,000 miles. Since I'm not doing the baja scene anymore, I have some time to spend relaxing in my childhood state.

Hey Jay, just think we were getting big roosters this time last year. I ran into Dave Taylor, has a lodge in Alaska, while we were unloading the ahi. I told him I was with you last summer in La Paz, he said you tie the best flies. He wants to get a big ahi on fly as well. I told him good luck. Would love to have you come out to the islands, better hurry afraid the ahi will spawn next full moon.

They are catching big roosters and dorado right now. With this new spike in the virus, I think it will be only a matter of time when they close the borders to all US citizens. It could be hassle trying to get back into he states. It was bad enough trying to get out of Baja after Odile, I can't imagine what it would be like in the case of the virus
