    Default Wife-unit shad slayer

Drifted this morning (Mother's Day) from Sailor Bar to Sunrise. On the water at dawn, off at 10:30am. I'm going to guess every other fisherman with a boat must have kids because we were the ONLY boat on the water (no kids for us).

Shad stacked up everywhere. Bite was pretty good until around 10am. Wife-unit has never caught a shad before, so of course she catches the biggest one I have ever seen, then boats four fish to every one for me. WTF?

She has never spent a dime on gear, never bought a boat, never read a fishing book or magazine... only goes to Kiene's Fly Shop to play with the dogs (she loves Jelly). Also, can't cast, gets tangled in everything, and won't stop giggling. Oh, she also choose flies based on which one "looks pretty". What am I doing wrong?

    John ,
Generally if its not broke, don't try and fix it! There's plenty of us out here with ( literally ) bigger fish to fry.

Bill is more right than he knows. John, that sounds like more than a few of my days fishing with my wife too. Great to hear you two had some nice time on the water.
