Sheltering In My Yard
A few days ago I went to Berryessa and found all the ramps and public areas were closed. That was kind of the tipping point for me. I decided The Governor had beaten me and I went into pretty full on shelter in place mode. I started poking around the yard looking for things to photograph and after a few days I had quite a few shots that I liked. It was kind of like being stuck on a small island and only being able to fish the water around it. You have to work the water you have pretty hard to make the most of it.
Nothing fishing related here but it seems like an appropriate time for a sheltering in place post. Hopefully you find something you like here and maybe something that helps you focus on the good times that are sure to come in the near future.
The bees are swarming the blackberries right now. This is the Olallie variety which was developed at Oregon State.
Another busy bee. You can see in the bottom left some fruit has already set. These should start getting ripe about mid May.
This dove is nesting in the blackberries. There are two eggs in the nest.
They have multiple broods each year so they will probably be hanging out for a few months.
Ranier cherries are growing. Should be ripe around May 20.
Planet pluot. This variety ripens in august so it has a long way to go.
White peach ripe about August 1st.
A tomato plant I just put in. I should be eating them by July 1st.

A bee working the daisies. Lots of pollen collecting on him.
Digging deep for the nectar.
Purple needle grass. A California native bunchgrass that stays green all summer with no water.
A fish swimming around in the yard.
A good run of sockeye in the yard this year.
Whoever had this on their truck hopefully drove around enjoying some good trout fishing. You will be doing the same soon I am sure.
