Default Documentary on Jack Gartside - he was a great fly fisher.

I met him once in Montana when he was taking a break from Striper fishing in the Boston area so his shoulder would heal up.

Bill, When he wasn't fishing or fly tying, he drove a Boston taxi.
He claimed he learned to tie flies from Ted Williams.
His book, "The Fly Fisherman's Guide to Boston Harbor" was
    a bible for many.
Best to all and stay safe,

I fished with Jack many times. I even tied flies with him on a couple of camp outs. I loved him. He was always learning and teaching. He smoke like a chimney and so did I back then. Great man, fly fisher and tier. I loved watching this Bill.

    That is fantastic Lance......

Was that back when you and Lincoln had the custom salt water fly tying company?

I think he was in this area doing presentations at some of the local fly fishing clubs about 20 years ago?

    Hey Bill,

Hope all is well on FLA - currently an Ark worthy downpour here east of Sacto.

Jack did a barnstorming tour, maybe it was that long ago, of the clubs in NorCal. A few of us in CFFU had the chance to spend the day tying with him, and he was a character. All his materials and tools in one giant trash bag, enough stories to fill several books, and simple, effective patterns. A great day, and a unique individual.
