    Default Cork repair

Anyone have info for anyone who can repair the cork on fly rods? I’ve got a little piece that chipped off. I don’t want to send it to sage yet but that my last resort.

If you can find cork a similar color (cork ring, wine cork, etc.), sometimes you can cut a piece with an x-acto knife, shape it with the knife or sand paper, and glue it in with a mix of cork dust and Titebond glue (Titebond II, or especially Titebond III are more water repellent). Then touch up gently with sand paper.
Cork dust (use sandpaper or a file to make the dust) mixed with glue such as Titebond creates a paste that fills space and allows you to position the piece of cork just right, then holds it there while drying. If you want to experiment you can use Elmer's white glue (water soluble), then just wet and remove the piece of cork if you don't like the way it looks (and try again for a better fit and look).
