Default It is time to get in some fly fishing before it gets too cold?

This is prime time for Stripers in the Delta.

November is the last month of Fall Steelheading for most.

December through March is average winter Steelhead time.

October through December is the time for Eagle Lake.

October through May is the window for Pyramid Lake in Nevada.

November is the month for King salmon on the North Coast tide water.........

.........when water conditions are right in the Eel, Smith and Chetco rivers.

Dungeness crab season is November through June roughly.

November is the month for big Redfish in the Gulf of Mexico.

Winter is the summer in New Zealand, Argentina and Chili for big trout.

Many will go to Christmas Island in the winter as it is on the Equator.

Many will go south for the winter and fish in between the cold fronts.

March/April is freshwater bass time in Florida.

February is a good time for American Shad on the Saint Johns river in Florida.

It is the beginning of Ice Fishing season up North?

    What do you have planned?

Default Been doing the best I can

Nothing more planned, but I took full advantage of the great weather this month. After five years of barely fishing due to some health problems, I decided this Spring to drag my butt off the couch and start fishing as much as I can. I joined the Granite Bay Flycasters, met a new bunch of folks, and started hitting the water every day I felt up to it. I finished the season by fishing the Delta the last two Saturdays, with Tuesday at Pyramid with Bill Quinn and Friday on the Rubicon in between. Yesterday was a spectacular finish: great weather, little wind, and willing fish. Surprisingly, we ended the day with 15 topwater strikes in two hours. Most were LMB, but my friend Curtisgot an 18-inch striper after sunset to wrap up the day. I was surprised that the bass were so aggressive with water temps this low., But they were all over some Bubbleheads that Paul Egan modified for me ten years ago. I met and began fishing with Paul and his wife Robin at a Kiene's BB fish out in the Delta back in the fall of 2007.
I should thank the two of them, Ed Wahl, Wayne Chubb, Scott Vaughn, David Lee, and all the other board members who shared their experience with me. I've been passing that knowledge on to others. While I'm at it, Bill, thank you for keeping this forum alive. Much of my fly-fishing education has come from here and Dan Blanton's board.

    Bill,

Does this mean you've got your new boat ready for some delta fishing? Let me know and I'll get that basket down to you.
