Sadly, it appears that one of my old haunts, Kilarc Reservoir (near Whitmore/Palo Cedro) is scheduled to be drained this winter and no longer exist.

Apparently, last winters storms damaged the canal that fed the small 5 acre lake and PG&E declared that repairs of the canal wouldn't be financially feasible.

I enjoyed Kilarc for some 25 years............Our daughter caught her first fish there and before my dad passed away he and I would make several spring thru fall trips a year up there.
Kilarc was his favorite place to fish.

The lake was loaded with wild browns and stocked with rainbows by CDFW pretty regularly.
Fifty fish plus days weren't uncommon fly fishing from the shore.

I know things will always change in the future, but, it's sad to see such a wonderful little place to fish no longer exist.

I'd bet that if PG&E had their "employee cabins" at Kilarc, they'd be like white on rice to save it at what ever cost.
