Some Delta Striper chasers liked to use 100' of 25 - 30# Amnesia mono for shooting/running line and then 25' -30' of Cortland LC-13

lead core line for their real fast sinking head. Or 28'- 30' of T-14 would also work. This is the cheapest setup for Stripers.

If you want to buy one really great casting integrated fly line I would buy the Rio Outbound Short sinking Int/Type 6

I use this 90% of the time for Stripers.............$99.99 usd

For Striper setups I always recommend using 30# braided Dacron/Micron backing because you don't need much and this will be nice

    and strong.

    Thanks for the info Bill,

for years I've been using a SA custom tip express, which I think is no longer made.

I used OBS lines a few times before that and they kept cracking after 5-6 trips. This was 5 or so years back, so that's what prompted the change to the SA line.

This weekend at Pyramid Lake it seems the SA line just died. The running line would not stretch flat to get rid of coiling, and kept tangling bad. Not twisting, just tangling

SA/Mastery, Rio, Cortland and Airflo all make these short head, short front and rear taper fresh water lines people like for Stripers.
