Default Orvis Battenkill clink-n-pawl reel series

These reels are not for everyone but they are nice for light tippet trout fishing.

I am going to get some for Spey and Switch rods.

Very good reels, I have a couple of the spey sized reels. Everyone within a mile will know when you have a hot fish on!

30 years ago you couldn't give away a giant English split cane Spey rod and big English fly reel.

People for decades brought in giant split cane antique Spey rods with reels and line that came over here from Europe with their grand fathers.

They inherited them and would bring them by our shop to see what they could do with them.

We told them they could stake up their tomatoes with 4 foot sections of the 16 foot cane rods and use the reels as a boat anchor.

    I am serious........so sad.

I just picked up some hardy made battenkills and CFOs for exactly that. I love click pawl reels but they are an acquired taste. I also have a couple of the aforementioned tomato stakes! I grew up fishing hardys on massive spey rods, that's probably why I like that noise, fond memories, the good ole' days when Atlantic salmon existed. I just got back into spey a couple of years back and am already searching for a hardy in a decent size (that won't require a remortgage) - my father a ton of them back in Scotland where I from but alas, he still fishes with them.
