Fly fishers - and those who want to become one - will fill the landmark Glendale Civic Auditorium Oct. 5-6 for the Annual Fly Fishing Faire, created by the Southwest Council Fly Fishers International.

The auditorium, 1401 North Verdugo Rd., will feature displays, classes, workshops, individual instruction, seminars and end-of-summer shopping opportunities during the two-day family event.

Admission is $15 individual, $20 for a family or $5 for a first-time or beginning fly-fisher. A singe admission is good both Faire days.

The event will feature stream, lake and ocean fly-fishing opportunities in Southern California for albacore to trout, bluegill to bonito, offshore to local fly rod surf fishing targeting Corbina along the SoCal coastline and even Carp in the Los Angeles River.

Fly casting and fly tying demonstrations and learning opportunities will be conducted continuously both on-site and at the nearby Pasadena Casting Club pond.

Retail fly tackle stores Fishermen's Spot! and Orvis-Pasadena will have end-of-the-season and pre-holiday price specials on rods, reels, clothing and accessories.

Guide services and vacation destinations from the Colorado and Green rivers as well as local coastline and offshore will offer audio/visual programs.

Wendy Gunn, Lees Ferry, Ariz., will conduct a "Women's Only" workshop and there will be continuous classes for kids in casting and tying flies.
