    Default Truckee vandalism

Unfortunately my Jeep was vandalized at Horners Corner today. Looks like someone tried to break into it and failed miserably but really f’d up my doors on both sides in the process. My guess is they liked the look of some of the gear in the back.

Reminder to all to be vigilant. I’d expect such nonsense at the American or Putah but this surprised me a bit at the Truckee and especially right next to the freeway.

Maybe it is time to move to OR, WA, NV, ID, MT, CO, WY?

Moving away from big cities sounds good to me.

Lots of my friends moved to Oregon after they retired.

Those places may have lower incidence of “professional” property crime but all still have plenty of tweakers. And, unfortunately I’m still 20 years or more from retirement.

Vandalism was rampant in Oregon and Washington when I lived there. Many rivers were sketch so I always made it a point not to leave anything in plain sight. It's a sad state of affairs and luckily for me I never personally have had an incident. I hope your insurance will cover that damage to your doors bud.

Had The passenger side window of my truck broken a few years ago at Soda Creek on the upper Sac. Luckily, nothing of value was stolen. Sheriff in Dunsmuir, a couple of miles away, wouldn't take the report because Dunsmuir is in Siskiyou County and Soda Creek is in Shasta county. Had to go to Redding to file a report.

    PV,

Sorry to hear that. I've never had any problems in Truckee and I lived there for 15 years.

This happened in the Loop area? Right off I80? It could have been transients from anywhere travelling through and they saw an opportunity. Doesn't sound like a professional or well thought out attempt.

Correct Joe in the gravel lot at the loop.

There were 3 other cars there at the same time and I didn’t observe any obvious damage on them. Maybe I just have a long lost enemy in Truckee who I’m unaware of.

Sorry to hear. We had our tires slashed on Pit 3 several years ago. Felt like an ambush setup.
