    Some refer to the lake as "Green Lake"................ I'm only up that way in the Summer or Fall.......... it's always green algae color.

    Hey there BS. You pretty much hit those two lakes right on. Caples seems to always be choppy. This time of year, you might find something near the dam about 40 feet deep. Yeah, not much fun on fly rod. Regarding Kirkwood, very frustrating lake. Even though CDFW plants it, the fish are located in the deepest part nearly 2/3 the away from the put in. The many times I have fished it, I maybe get one or two and any fish are on full sinking lines, deep. Really not much fun. All that being said, it sure beats the hell out of Summer in Sacto.
