Default To those of you who do/did it all, I'm so sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Broadway Bait Rod and Gun is closing for good. They will be open for limited hours through October.

I swung by on Monday to pick up some shells on my way out dog training and they were closed. I'd never encountered them being closed before, ever. I told a couple of dog trainers about it and one of them forwarded me their announcement.

This is a sad day for me and for the outdoorspeople of the Sacramento area.

Broadway Bait was a very special place.

Elwood: It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

    Jake: Hit it.

I grew up a few miles south of Broadway Bait and Tackle in south Sacramento.

We Baby Boomers all hunted and fish in the 1960s and we all went to Broadway Bait.

Chris Fulster senior is a Sacramento icon who has had a wonderful life.

Back in the '60s the shop was on the northeast corner of 16th & Broadway.

Next to the bait shop was a little dinner....Momma's?

We had hotcakes there, got out "stuff" from Broadway Bait and went hunting or fishing.

    They picked ducks there too.

I grew up and hunted with Jim Silva, Bob Moore, Gary Markoffer, Frank Bakarich and others from South Sac.

They have been closed for some time now.

long time back, I lived close to broadway bait and when I decided to try fly tying I bought my first vise a thompson model a, and materials.

That was the place to get bait for many many years

    I still have that vise.
