Many small California coastal rivers had wild Silver salmon over 50 years ago.

Those wild runs of Silvers are all gone now.

Today they have hatchery Silver runs on the Trinity, Klamath and Rogue Rivers.

In CA in the past 20 years they have been trying to bring back some Silvers in the small, shorter coastal river that use to have them.

Friend Mike Williams was out of Bodega Bay trolling for King salmon last week and said the Silver salmon were very thick.

He said they were 22-24". They caught and released about a dozen Silvers while they were catching a limit of 4 King salmon.

Washington/Oregon is projected to have a silver run of around 1 million silvers.

Years ago customers would talk about catching lots of Silver salmon or Coho off the mouth of the Campbell River on Vancouver Island, British Columbia.

They said they would troll from outboard skiffs with a fly rod and reel using buck-tail streamers, blue/white or green/white.

They said at a fast troll they would let the fly out just over the wake of the outboard on top.

    Sounded like real exciting fishing...........
