    Default memorable memorial day

Aloha, the big ahi are running here in Hawaii. I should have been chasing them today, but my friends had other plans. So I headed over to the West side to hit some of my spots. Got two nice bones today at the same beach with the same bunny gotcha and my vapen 6wt rod and 12lb tippet. It only took an hour to get them both.

First one about 9 lbs made some great runs, into the backing a couple of times. This beach is kinda knarly so you have to keep them out of the rocks.

2nd one about 8 lbs, actually more of a challenge. Got him to eat shallow and then he ran around a couple of coral heads, leader was all scuffed up, but got em in.

Hope you all had a great memorial day, Mems.

    Way to go Don,

That's a great photo of the first fish. Almost looks like he's just casually cruising along feeding.

Thanks Guys, catching one is great, two just made it twice as good. When I walked up I saw three of them swimming together, so I guess two out of three is pretty good. They are such beautiful fish and it is awesome when you can't reach around them. There are bones and then there are big bones. Mems.

Dang Mems, those are some big bones on just a 6wt. You must really stick it to 'em!!

Seems like the bones are bigger in Hawaii then Christmas Island.

    Thanks for sharing.
