Evening.
I was shooting line out my float tube at a lake on the opener Saturday, and as I was stripping retrieving my running line and strip setting, I noticed that on the especially hard / fast strip sets, I was creating enough friction to melt the outer covering if my running line to my finger guard. Now I've been primarally using my shooting head set up on beach and occasionally on the tube for stripers, but I don't feel like I've ever noticed this or enough to give it a second thought. Now my running line has a bunch of rough spots over its length.
Any thoughts or similar experiences?
(I'm going to check my bench reel 8wt and see if I gave similar burns on the running line)
Air flow running line set up on a 6wt. Fishing fresh water. Water temp 58-62*.
