Default We are all waiting for the Shad Master, Jeff Ching, to post his first catch for 2019

With all the water this year we should have another great, long American Shad run on the Lower American River.

I think that May/June is the prime time for the American River run.

It will be cool to see when the first fish is caught.

In the past years Shad seem to get caught first at the mouth of the American and mouth of he Feather Rivers from anchored boats.

If the Sacramento and Feather rivers get low enough maybe we can have a Forum outing wading the sandbar at the mouth of the

    Feather river?

True fact, we are waiting for that! I was glad to see your board back up when I checked last night -- thanks Bill.

Last year my first hookups on the Feather happened around 4/20.

I’ve been chomping at the bit for them to show up! Since the have been no reports from Freeport, Verona and Discovery Park, I’m thinking it won’t be until May before they show up on the American. When they do they will just shoot up because of the high flows and not hold down low. I’m going to start looking for them in the lower river next week.

    Aron & Scott,
If you look at the date, it's 4/11/19.
Still; a fish. Sometimes, the area gets inundated
with high water and it takes a bit for
    things to get back online.
