We’ve had some small windows recently to get on the Winter Steelhead that are entering the rivers of Northern California and Southern Oregon. These windows haven’t been as frequent as they can be some years but we’ve been getting creative and dedicating long hours of driving to chase the favorable conditions. We had some very memorable days last week pursuing these fish. We will be targeting these Winter Steelhead until mid-March so there is still time to get a trip if you have the hankering.

After that, it’ll be back to the trout that have had a nice long break. Speaking of which – we’ve had a few guides on the Lower Sac recently and the fishing has been fair at best. “Slow” for the Lower Sac is still good by most trout fishing standards – but things aren’t quite as good as they could be yet. The ultra cold temperatures have slowed the trout fishing down a bit and looks like this might persist for at least another week. As soon as the daytime temps start creeping over mid 60 degrees – we are going to be expecting some great trout fishing on the Lower Sac.. The Caddis and Mayflies will be flying and the trout will be grubbing.
