Default Northern California Fishing Update 1/23

The rain has finally subsided.. we got dumped on last week in the North State. There were a few days where none of the rivers were fishable up here. It ended up being a great weekend to be at the ISE show in Sacramento..

Most of the Winter Steelhead venues besides the Klamath and Trinity will be big and dirty for another week or so.. The Trinity kicked out a few really good days earlier this week. It's still big over there but she's slowly on the drop - currently at 1K cubes in JC. With conditions like this mixed with a little color in the water - expect fish to to on the move. Fishing this river in these conditions is one of our favorites as fish can be in so many different little nooks and crannies and in a lot of "transition" water.

The "Lower Sac" is purdy dirty still form the last deluge.. It may be at least another few days for it to clear up and turn green. The fires from this past summer are proving to add a little more color to the river than we're used to during these winter storms. We're looking forward to the first few 70 degree days of February and March to get the Brachycentrus Caddis out and about. This event is know to turn the trout ON big time. If you don't have a Spring trip planned yet.. ya might want to get on it.

I would like to go fishing in the spring! With such a change in weather, I was forced to leave prematurely (and I probably will not go fishing anymore until spring
