I generally use Rio's SlickShooter in 25# for almost everything these days.
Though for my trout fishing in our cooler current Montana conditions, I find myself using the Rio's Connectcore in .026.
Monofilament tends to get a bit wire-like under 35 degrees or so making the pvc line a little easier to handle with trout retrieve techniques.
If I was unconcerned about retrieval and just fishing a straight swing, mono would get the nod irrespective of temperature.
While I know of a few individuals who use the Stren Catfish line, I don't have plans for it myself.
Happy Holidays to you and yours Bill.
My best,
Mike McCune
