About the only way to get a copy is to look on Ebay. It' a sad commentary on what we once had . I just returned from my annual trip to the Smith River, 49th year there, and contrasting with it with my first trip there, in 1969, how far we have fallen in the intervening years is sad.

Sadly the world wide fisheries have fallen about 90% in the past 50 years according to the Feds.

**It is easier to control California's water if there are no fish in it and no passionate fisher folks to fight for the fish.

Along with all that sad news there are some fisheries that are being brought back.

Dam removal has made be feel a little better about things.

I did get Rivers of a Lost Coast. I sat and watched it with the guy who got me into my first steelhead and taught me my first strokes in the rower's seat. He often goes on about his past misdeeds along the north coast, he is a huge BS'r so most of the time I'd laugh it off. As we watched the film he suddenly turned white, thought he was having a heart attack. I said everything ok Eric? He said that was me...more BS right? Sure enough there he was with a fellow fisher he knew by the nickname Speck.

Caused me to reevaluate his BS as more than just lore. Just had to share.

Don't let the rivers or their rich past drift off into the ether! Get involved! The good old days are around the next river bend.
