Default Federal Government Rejects Loan for Twin Tunnel Project (CA WaterFix)

Heard on the TV News this evening that the Federal Government rejected a loan that would've helped finance the Twin Tunnel Project.

As soon as I find a link to substantiate the report, I will update.

But, the feds are trying to alter the ESA and CWA so that they can increase the amount of water they do pump...... it ain't over by a long shot......

    Absolutely correct.

Why loan money to CA when they can just ignore current laws and policies in favor of just flat out cranking up the pumps in Tracy with no regard for anything other than their elite political friends in the South SJ Valley.

Funny how it works...... ..... "well, we tried to get all the water by way of tunnels, canals, loans, etc. (wolf in sheep's clothing) Screw 'em, we'll just take it anyway....." <wink>

    Default Increased Pumping....

Maybe this is a blessing in disguise.... Increasing the volume pumped through the CVP/SWP illustrates two things. First, this federal proposal takes the alleged need for a "reliable water supply" out of support for the water fix project, and, second, it shows what would (will) happen shortly after Waterfix (tunnels) is completed. Under the proposed "adaptive management plan". The volume pumped south will be increased from the current 9,000 CFS to the maximum design volume of 15,000 CFS.

Agree. Sure a lot of political tight rope walking of late....... Regardless of party affiliation, representatives are working every angle to get what 'they' want, not what's best for the greater good for the State of CA and the majority of its residents.

Now Brown and Feinstein back the extension of the WINN Act?! 7 Years!? A flawed bill that was temporary for emergency "drought" purposes is all of a sudden the norm? I suppose DiFi sees her re-election as endorsement for her friendship with Westlands as well as Stuart Resnick. What a bunch of crap.

The majority of California residents live at the other end of the California Aqueduct.

    Default Waterfix Finances....

While it's true most people live in the southern part of the state, the greatest volume of water transported south from the CVP/SWP (by far) goes to growers in the southern San Joaquin Valley.

Yea, farmers like Chevron, Shell, and The Resnick's. All extremely profitable corporations making more millions on OUR water, for nuts exported to Asian countries... It isn't like they are growing food for us to eat.....

    Default San Joaquin Farming

Well,.... To be fair, growers do produce a variety of crops down there. I can still buy all of the agricultural products (including nuts) at all of the stores I frequent. So, they do grow food we can eat.

The major problem with increased pumping, is that water is a commodity to be sold/traded by water contractors like Westlands or the Kern County Water Bank (owned/controlled by the Resnicks) to willing buyers for profit (buy low from the state/sell higher to buyers).
