    Default Central Coast of California

I'll be going down to Carmel for a few days next week. Will be driving around and visiting from Monterey Bay to the Big Sur area. I've gone down there before and have always thought about taking a rod. Any suggestions? Take a rod for stripers from a beach, perch, or kelp bass. Never mind, and just enjoy the area.

I think Spring, Summer and Fall is the time for the surf.

Dec/Jan/Feb is the time for winter Steelhead on those small short rivers.

Be sure to go to the big aquarium in Monterey.

Give Geoff a call or stop by Central Coast fly fishing in Carmel valley. The surf fishing has picked up in popularity!
too early for steelhead unless there is a lot of rain the rivers all have flow requirements and so will be most likely shut down for steelhead when your there. Enjoy the scenery. I grew up on the peninsula. the heritage there is mostly lost and so cal has slowly eatin it up. Gone Is the cannery row of Steinbeck and in its place an amusement park for rich tourists and a bubba gumps!
