Default Klamath - Happy Camp Repot

I just got back from the Klamath river today. I spent the last 3 days fishing above Happy Camp. I drifted my kayak from Gordon's Ferry to Happy camp three days. I swung flies the whole time. Muddler minnow and Brett's Klamath Intruder for me. I didn't catch anything over 12" but had a good time on my little trout spey set up. I saw 3-4 drift boats each day. All bobber fishing. Saw a couple hook ups around the Klamath River Inn. I saw guides jump out of the boat with nets so had to be decent fish. The folks at the Klamath River inn said China Point access was closed due to a landslide and there was no intent to fix it anytime soon. They suggested I launch from Gordon's Ferry. They said the river had changed a little and downstream of Seattle access were some class 3-4 rapids. As it was my first drift in my kayak....I opted for Gordon's Ferry...

Some neighbors at the inn fished with a guide out of Orleans and caught 3 Kings. They were bouncing roe.

Thanks for the very complete report.

I guess a kayak is OK for some of the Klamath River.
