These videos might help you get into good fly action close to your house. Great for younger people that lack sufficient gas funds!

I realize allot of people might not be interested in driving anywhere specifically for bass, but when the tailwater rivers are fishing slow. Or if your prime fishing holes are already occupied, great bass action could possibly be had not too far away above the dams. And your 5-7wt rod you already have on you will work great! It's a good plan B.

Putah Creek & Lake Berryessa is a prime example of this. Trinity River & Trinity Lake, Feather River & Lake Oroville, and the list goes on.
