"Hi Bill,

I did a nice float September 3-4-5 and had a very nice time on the river.

Thanks for the advice. I stayed at Spey-Gee and they were more than willing to help with the shuttle. I took three days to float from Weichpec to Johnsons and that was a perfect amount of time for the trip. If I was going to go all the way to the Glen I'd have needed at least one more day, maybe two, with the wind.

Coon Creek was quite runable but did require scouting and some careful maneuvering to miss the fan rocks in the bottom of the drop. As an ex-whitewater rafting guide, it wasn't a difficult rapid but running in a wood driftboat instead of a rubber raft adds to the degree of difficulty. Collisions with rocks in big drops is no longer acceptable.

Fishing was great, plenty of half-pounders many in the 3 lb range and a couple of larger "adults". Nothing really big but, generally, nonstop action early and late in the day. I had to go to a bigger hook just to keep the little guys off.

Thanks again,
Joe S"
