Sweet........a very classic old pattern sized down for Half=pounders.

My favorite thing to tie (have not in years) is Steelhead patterns.

That’s a touch of class right there. Really nice tying, and photography too.
Curious about the hook choice, though. Care to explain, SST?

The euro style hooks are 100-percent barbless.. Additionally, a size 12 (euro) is actually two sizes larger than the hooks we are accustomed to as well as black and a little heavier wire. The heavier wire is for those "just in case big daddy answers the call." I am pretty darn sure all of the Partridge and Mustad salmon/steelhead hooks are now made in China; which, is a terribly soft wire imo.

If I could find the old return loop Mustad 9002s I would certainly still tie/fish them. Unfortunately, I only have sizes 1 and 2 left in my stock.

Back in the 1970s in my fly shop I had these clear Plano plastic 18 compartment boxes for my fly display.

Each box had 3 rows of 6 compartments.

I was an out of control Steelheader at this time.

    So my Steelhead flies were tied in 6 sizes......#2, 4, 6, 8 10 and 12.

#2 and 4 were for British Columbia.

    #10 and 12 were for Half-pounders.

One box was Green Butt Skunk, Silver Hilton and Brindle Bug.

Another box was the Boss, the Flame and the Gold Comet.

There were maybe 6 boxes like this of Steelhead flies which sounds kind of crazy now.

That’s great! Like your answer because I think us steelheaders have all had that happen! Good to be prepared and love the gape on that hook!
