.......in the Lower Klamath River right now.
You need to fish extremely early and late to catch fish in August / September.
Or look for shade....I have been in the sun and the fish in the shade......good.
Smoke from fires can make day time fishing good....
You should be walking, driving or boating to your riffle with lights on and be fishing by 6am.
Quit by 10am and go back out by 4pm and fish till dark.
Sleep on the sand under the willows from 10am till 3pm.
Swing in the surface early and late, keep moving down stream with every casts.
When the water is a little warm the fish are in the riffles, not the tail outs as much.
If you like tail out fishing go in October.
Fish like to find riffles below areas with cold springs or cold creeks coming in.
I fish mostly a floating line, leader as long as your rod to 1x and any #10 barbless wet fly or nymph.
When the sun is on the water you can add a fast sinking Poly / Versi leader, 4 feet of 1x and bead head #10 wet fly /nymph.
I prefer October in the middle Klamath River from Orleans to Happy Camp.
