Default What to use on the lower AR

I have a 9’6” rod with floating and sink tip line. What flies do you use to target stripers? I have tried minnow and shad patterns and haven’t had much luck. Been trying to find deeper holes around Sunrise and Rossmore. Am I just to high on the river and need to venture further downstream?

Andy usually works on Sundays but he is gone this week hosting a group trip to the Yucatan for Baby Tarpon.

Most use a 9' #7/8/9 line rod with a very fast sinking head, 7' FC leader to 20# test and a #2/0 Chartreuse/White Clouser minnow fished barbless tied on with a nonslip loop knot.

Andy offers an affordable drift trip where you and he both fish which is the best way to learn the Lower American River for Stripers.

Some use two handed rods too.
