Default Summer Striper time on the Lower American River with Andy

Andy is focusing on the resident Stripers in the Lower American River.

He know the entire river better tan anyone else because he has been at hem for decades.

He usually goes out early and drifts down the runs casting to his favorite spots.

As the sun gets overhead you can stand and look down into the clear water and usually see some Stripers.

Here is a nice one from yesterdays float......."Cal" looks happy.

Nice fish I know that spot well... There's a wood duck nesting box in the cottonwood tree on that south shore below the island

Also, CDFW released the steelhead smolts this February at the red Fair Oaks Bridge (not too far upriver from that spot) instead of at the Howe Ave. River Access as they have done for the last many years prior... and many of those trout never left the river so the stretch between the rising sun and the mantle has been a good one this summer
