I fished Fall a couple of weeks ago. Lots of dinks. I saw very few large fish lower down (between the CalTrout Access and Zug Bug Alley). A Clearwater guide told me that the larger fish are still further upriver, after making their spring spawning run. It seems to me, though, that I saw a ton more larger fish further down at this time last year, however. I'm going to fish it again this Fall. Less traffic on the river and more consistent hatches.

The Hatch is just beginning. We have been doing well every night. Not many big fish yet. Lots of Salmon in the 2-3# range and Rainbows in 14-18". The big fish have been big browns up to 7-8#. Most fishing is been on nymphs, but we have grab fish every night on the dries!

I canoed above the third bridge last week and had a great day, until the wind came up. It was tempting from the moment I left Cal Trout to stop and fish but I kept hearing folks talk about "little fish" (One of the best things about canoeing is I hear everything other folks are saying as they are talking over the sound of their engines....and one of the worst things is I hear what everyone os saying...) Lots of feeding fish and tight 'pods'. Several LDRs but two very nice fish visited the net and probably another 7-9 fish under 12". Lots of folks out for a Wednesday. The best of the fish came from the deep!
