Gong to the eastern side for the first time

Greetings all,
In a couple of weeks I'll be going camping at Sherwin creek outside of Mamoth. I've never camped or fished this area and was hoping for some Intel from the combined experiences of this board. Please feel free to PM me if your not comfortable making public posts. I will be with the in-laws wife, and two daughters (3 & 5). I am well geared up from 3wt to pyramid rods. Space for gear is not an issue and want to bring a floatie either kayak or tube. I have 4 nights and want to make the best of it without neglecting the fam. I haven't been in the Sierras or out for trout this season so I've got an itch and intend to scratch it raw! Your thought for the best bang for no bucks (or a few) would be great.
