You need a boat for every two fly fishing anglers.

You need an aerated live well....we used a big cooler with portable aerator.

If you want to go next year I would contact Maury Hatch a few months before.

I only fly fish in the Delta for LMB and SMB and only top water because for me it is not about catching fish.

I love the casting so it is always a good day.

I use the Sage LMB Bass rod with the Sage/Rio LMB fly line with the largest Umpqua Swimming Frog mostly.

Some years ago Andy Guibord and I were very lucky to get to fish with Kevin Doran and learn his incredible techniques.

If you want to learn Kevin's techniques for Delta LMB top water fly fishing I would hire Captain Andy Guibord.

Through the summer I would go early and late in the day for some good top water action.

**May is Captain Kevin Doran's favorite month for top water LMB.

I'll say what I want, when I want.

I didn't bash it, I just said I would never fish it.

Best to not get involved in something that doesn't pertain to you!
So long and thanks for all the fish!!!

it pertains to me, didn't fish it this year but will again....the guys run this are top notch folks that put on a great event. Major kudos to Maury, Noel and the rest of the gang as well as the sponsors. That's where the focus of this thread should be, not about some non-participant obsessed with size and bag counts

Thanks for proving me correct that the bag sizes were small. That is all I said. I didn't say anything negative about the event. Get a life people!

In comparison to the conventional tournaments that were held during the same time of year in the California Delta, 5 of our Teams would have been "In the money" at the other events. So our Bag Sizes Were Not Small!
I'd say that is bad ass and super respectable for fly anglers. Our weigh master, Dave Sanchez of the Stockton Bass Club was super impressed by our contestants bag limits.
Competitions like the Costa Bass-N-Fly are not meant for every angler but I am proud to say that each year we are getting bigger and better and every one was gushing about this years events. I invite ALL of you here on this board to attend or compete next year. It is a one of a kind event and I am proud to be part of it.
