    Default Las Arenas Fishing

Sorry I haven't posted any reports since I've been here but I've been putting daily reports on my FB page.

This past week, the fishing has been off the charts. Lot's of big roosters, some 30 - 40lb dorado starting to show up, lot's of yellow fin being caught and WAHOO. It's like it was last October, they are eating sardines, rapala's, but I wish they would eat flies. Yesterday my people got a 48lb wahoo on a sardine right on the surface. A casted fly would of been perfect. They were within 30' of the panga.

Come this October, I'll be back down with a purple rapala fly and some larger sardina patterns.

I have on Hatch reel loaded with 450 yds of 50# braid. My first week here, I had another experience with braid. I hooked into a yellow fin on the surface and he took off but my leg was in between the rod and line. It went so fast that I didn't have time to get my leg out. It started cutting into the back of my leg at the knee joint. My captain tried grabbing the line with his hands but got line burns then he grabbed a rag, pulled the line away long enough for me to get my leg out. Long story short, we landed the yellow fin 28lbs on the boga. My second cast, hooked into another one on a crease fly, that one was 24lbs. There are some yellow fin up to 75lbs. Saw a couple big ones on the beach.

Now the bait is back, the fish are here and I have very few guys down here this year.

I have one more trip this October, if you feel like you need a salt water adrenaline rush, come on down. not too late to sign up. Plus the trip is $200.00 off my retail price.
I wish I knew how to post photo's to this site.

    Later

Bill, it's not good - it's excellent. I think it's going to get better and better.
