Default Young man passed while Shad fishing!

A young man named Shaun passed away while shad fishing yesterday. It is suspected that he lost his footing while wading at sailor bar. May he Rest In Peace! And may his loved ones left behind find comfort!

Guys be carful out there! Just because it’s 1750 cfs does not mean the river can’t sweep you away! Tight lines!

    the river is deceptive
i usually wade deep but not in the American. somthing about the current even at lower flows that is dangerous with that river.
    be safe out there
i got some good advice early in my fly fishing life

    rule #1 Dont drown
    rule#2 refer to rule#1

if you do decide to wade know the river below you (gravel bar, shoot, pool, riffle) and have an exit strategy.
If i wade in I try to have a plan for if i go down because eventually it will happen.
    RIP Shaun

My friend Danny witnessed it at the Riffle named after him and called 911.

    Hi all:
Met Shaun Orchid's father-in-law while fishing Sailor Bar today. He is hoping to get information - anything about this. If you'd share this information, I'm posting this with Billy's blessing as well as the blessing of Dan (father-in-law).

There is a GoFundMe link available if anyone in this community should find it in their heart to donate to the young family.

Lastly, want to reiterate what Aron and donkeyhunter007 posted - please be careful out there. Water is deceptive and it is cold. FWIW, search "Simms Wader Safety" and watch a short video if you're not sure.

    Respectfully,
    Charles Won

    Hi all:
This is Dan Ash, Shaun's father-in-law. First, thank you Charles for posting my info on this site. Because of your post, I was able to meet Jeff C. who gave my info to his friend Danny.
Daniel (Danny) called me and shared with me what happened that tragic day on the river. It was very helpful for me, my daughter, and our entire family.

Thank you all for your help and support.

One note: During this accident, my son-in-law Shaun lost his wedding ring and car keys... as you can imagine, finding the wedding ring means a lot to my daughter. So if you hear of anyone finding keys or a wedding ring down by the bottom of the island below sailor bar please let us know.

Again, I thank you all for your help and support.

    sincerely,
    Dan Ash
