Wow!! What a bonus! I’ll bet that was a great fight and a shocker when it surfaced?

What a catch! That clouser is definitely in his mouth. Way to go Jeff.

First time for a sturgeon on a fly I hear of in these rivers. Just me personally does not mean it has not happened before. I know the Frazier river in BC guys target sturgeon with fly rods quite often!

Awesome post though and way to go!!!

Famous Nor Cal fly fisher Hal Janssen caught one many years ago in the Russian River while probably fly fishing for some other species like salmon, stripers or steelhead?

You should try to get that picture published somewhere to document it?

I saw one guy catch a 4-1/2' Green Sturgeon on the Yuba right at the Bluff below Daguerre Dam while fly fishing for Shad with a 7 wt. single hand back in 2011. Water was really serious that Spring. Was fun as hell to watch him play it

    Jeff,
I've caught a few big Suckers on streamers on the Yuba but no Sturgeon. Wow! Well it seems as though stripers aren't the only fish preying on salmon fry. Thanks for sharing.

One of those deals where being at the right place at the right time came together, considering sturgeon don’t have the best eyesight. They’re practically blind.

Seriously the coolest thing ever! Congratulations. First picture like that I've ever seen, and that's the first time I've ever even heard of anything like that.
