    Default Bluegill

I caught this bluegill last week. I don't catch many bluegill so it seemed like a photo was in order. Good looking fish. Caught it at Lake Berryessa. Lots of active fish along the shoreline. Caught a few bass as well. I need to get back up there.

    John,
Nice! Years ago, we used to fool many of these with a pickett pin fly in San Diego's Cuyamaca Lake.
So much fun. Thanks for sharing your adventures. I did miss a dog pic!

No dog on the bluegill trip. Too many ticks around now. I pulled about two dozen off of her. I did take her to about 6000’ in the Sierras. No ticks there.

I rode my bike up Cuyamaca peak once. Saw a fat rattlesnake under a rock.

In April/May the bass and panfish are usually in shallow to spawn.

I think the Blue Gill is a wonderful game fish.

We get some really big Blue gills and Crappie in Florida.

    Bill.
I was down in Chowchilla last weekend and fished a small pond with tons of good sized Bluegill. Sunnies and small bass. Incredible fun on my 8' 3wt. pack rod. They loved the black and green woolly buggers i tied. Even got a 13 inch largemouth.. Great fun.
