If you are not retired, yet, then go out that last hour or two for some good action.

Jeff Putnam skates a dry fly in the big tail outs on very calm evenings.

The last hour you might try a floating line and a dark fly.

If their is surface action it can be spawning or feeding on caddis.

Eat, sleep, repeat. Same story as yesterday. Showed up mid day and it was red hot at first. Then it went dead slow in the afternoon.

Lots of anglers out today (it's Friday) but not much catching except for the bobber guys below me. Toughed it out and got into double digits breaking the thousand mark in 5 weeks of fishing. The hot fly was my Firecracker fly which Terry Thomas named just like he suggested the name for the Bloody Maria.

Today they are fishing very small flies compared to 50 years ago.

Slow day for me. I only caught only almost 20. Lots of anglers out (it’s the weekend). Almost got run over by a newbie kayaker and a sheep while fishing!

Jeff and I have seen this happen for quite a few years now. Keeps the risk of fire down! The first time we saw them sure was a scene! Haha!

Over 120 shad and two wild steelhead on a float with Earle today. Broke a 6 wt Helios switch rod because I nicked it with tungsten bead head fly overhead casting but it was worth it! Good thing I brought 4 rods with me today!
