A little birdy told me the Russian River was low, clear and had steelhead in it right now.
This would be more like lake fishing than river fishing in the lower reaches of the tide water pools.
You need a #7, 8 or 9 weight rod with a selection of slow singing lines.
Have some medium size dark flies for low light and some small light colored flies for bright conditions.
I am sure the tide will effect some of these areas.
Be respectful of the locals who think they own the river......ha ha.
