Default My brother Dick Kiene had a good trip to the Trinity River.

He goes up there several times every winter with the same guide.

No offense Bill, but with the current state of wild steelhead I think it’s completely irresponsible to be holding these magnificent fish out of the water for hero shots.

    Good one Patrick..........

I am even more radical than you....

I think we need some rivers in California with no dams, no hatcheries and no fishing, period.

Just with wild salmon and Steelhead doing their thing to keep the whole thing going.

I had that thought in the 1980s at a super low point in the CA Steelhead world.

Most of the better guides keep the camera ready with the fish in the water and do a 10 second pickup and shoot picture.

I think this method has saved the lives of many big Steelhead.....

Good reply, Bill. Rivers with “no fishing.” You are radical! But having certain rivers put aside as sanctuaries actually sounds like a good idea. I know you’re one of the good guys, and appreciate that you are providing a great forum where these issues can be discussed in a civil manner.
