    Default Pyramid report 1/28/18

    Skunked again !!!!!

Just about the same as last time (1/2 day) I was at Wino........with the exception of a light northerly breeze.

There were lots of floating folks too..........tubes, toons, 12' aluminum, and even an oar powered jon boat.

Everyone I spoke with shared the same dismal results, including the ranger (who did check everyone's permits).

One fellow claimed the ole' "should have been here yesterday.......they hammered 'em right over there".

Off to the shower again to clean off the "skunk".

I missed one grab on Sunday. One of my buddies went 2/2 and the other 1/1 and another also got 0.
It's slow out at the lake with the occasional decent days.

Thanks for the replies Sheepdoggie and Morgan.

Yep, it's terribly slow at Pyramid.
I wonder if this full/ "supermoon"/eclipse has anything to do with it ????

I'm going to give it about a week or so, to let the moon disappear a little, and then give it a try again..........

On a side note..........I saw that the temperature on our indoor/outdoor thermometer hit 70 outside this afternoon.......feeling that I needed to redeem myself, I grabbed my little 3/4 switch and headed to the local put and take pond and landed a handful of holdover stockers.

Ahhhhhhhh..........now I remember what it feels like to have a trout on the end of a line !!!!!!!!
And as a bonus, I don't have to remove the "skunk" off of me tonight.

In the 1960s the local Sacramento fly club, the California Fly Fishers Unlimited, had annual outings to Pyramid Lake in Nevada.

It was usually in the winter and on one of these trips I met an old Native American while getting my fishing permit.

I asked him how the fishing was doing? He said, "Big moon, no fish."

Strangely enough our entire group got skunked......
