A few years ago I lost a Leatherman in the remote Yosemite backcountry. It was a gift from my late parents, had my name engraved on it, had it for 20 years. It meant a lot, and I beat myself up for being stupid enough to lose it.

A couple of weeks later, I got a message on LinkedIn asking if I “had lost something in a National Park recently”. I had it back a few days later. I’ve been trying to pay that forward every chance I’ve had since.

I was on the river for an hour this morning. We lost a beloved family pet Thursday, had to go around a homeless camp to get to the run today, fished too fast and badly, and knocked off before 8 Am in a dark place. Your post put the first smile on my face in 5 days and renewed my faith in people. Thanks for that.
