Default 9' 2 pc Walton Powell glass steelhead rod for sale

Up for sale is a Walton Powell fiberglass steelhead rod. The rod a 9' 2 piece/1 tip labeled for lines 9-10-11-12...that's right....a 9-10-11-12wt. Classic Walt. It's a powerful deep flexing rod. Swing some flies with this and you'll be checking the sandbar to your left and right, expecting to see a young Bill Schaadt or youthful Russ Chatham stepping into to the next riffle up or down - it's fishing with history.

One more bit of Mojo for this one...I got this rod from Vic Johnson - the gentleman who has written a number of excellent book on fly fishing equipment....including two widely praised books on fiberglass fly rods!

Anyway, it's seen some action. Cosmetically it a 6/10 (mainly decal issues) but structurally its 10/10 (confirmed via hands on inspection by Jim Clarkson). Early Conolon blank rolled on Walt's mandrel, unanodized aluminum Walton Powell seat, stainless steel ferrule, green wraps. Pretty classic early Walton Powell glass rod. No tube, non-original sock. It will ship in a sturdy PVC tube that the rod can be kept in. Please email rich@classicpowellrod.com or text (cell number below in my signature) for photos.
    Asking $65 shipped.

I have seen that model before....

The #9 -12 line size is pretty wild.

At the shop I think for the owner we decided a WF9F felt right.

Probably would cast a ST10S (300 grain) 30' shooting head too.

Some still use these large old fiberglass fly rods out of prams in the tide water of coastal rives for fresh run King salmon becuase you can pull on them pretty hard.

Could probably be used for Stripers out of a boat too?
