Default Surf is hot! Manresa, Sunrise to Pajaro River

Spent two days on the coast, Pajaro Dunes. Surf was red hot, lots of perch and the bite was on, incoming tide and the first hour or two of the outgoing tide are best. Its hit and run, find the fish and fish fast. Then they move on. Structure is still pretty good out there, lots of bars, holes and cuts. Weather is perfect this time of year.

    Tony,
Glad to hear of your success. I fish the surf 2 - 3 days a week when I'm in town and the perch
were 80% or so of our catch. They've been MIA for the last year or so, in spite of incredible
crab and bean clam beds. Our salvation during that time have been the croakers; spot fin, corbina,
and mostly the yellow fin following the bait fish. I've always speculated that the perch population
is steady; they're just elsewhere. Suspect that it's a lack of structure..
    Best to ya,
