Thanks Aaron, it's been a while.

Have a return trip to Louisiana for redfish, but this time in Delacroix. The local restaurants close and lock the doors when the locals leave. Out comes the booze and our boys help out in the kitchen. We end up dancing with the staff and pay what we feel the night had to offer. They enjoy crazy Californians. It is the first time on this trip for me, so expectations are reserved. The group buys shrimp right off the boats and cook it up that night. The anticipation is pretty high based on last year's trip. The McCloud is calling. Don't know if I can make it as well as the Eastern side of the Sierra. The North coast and Southern Oregon with Mark Papazian are also on the to do list, barring weather for steelhead- trying to hook up on the Mattole. Just need the wife's blessing.

Next week is a 40 mile backpack trip to Mt Whitney, with shots at Goldens at Cottonwood Lakes and Heritage Little Kern Rainbows on Rock Creek.

Annual October trip for surface steelhead on the Trinity.

Thanksgiving in Belize, mostly family stuff with a day of fishing and maybe some other hours as well.

    Best. Fall. Ever.

Off to my last 8.000' plus lake trip of the year soon, then my attention turns towards Mead, Mojave and a few lesser spoken of points due east and west.

    Idadon,

I hit the Davis tailwater a few times each fall / winter, but if given the choice between battling this...

...and Lake Mojave, with the exception of trout. Mojave is much kinder to me.

I've never pursued those Cats on a fly, so I won't be any help there.

et al---leaving for the mighty MO in Big Sky Montana on Tuesday. Drifting with guides for four (4) days and one day DIY. I'm really anticipating this trip. My first exposure to the MO was in the late '70's. At the time I'd only been fly fishing for 7-8 years. I wasn't experienced with "technical" fishing; but had fun fishing the Trico hatch/spinner-fall for three days in late August.

SS---Fishing in the Truckee area has really improved the last week, should be a great Fall.

Dave E: Thanks for giving me some hope! I plan on taking a 6 & 8 weight, a 13' Carp spinning outfit and another spinning setup suitable for Stripers. Might even take my switch rod just in case the wife "Hates" Arizona and wants to head north.

Truthfully, I'm kind of looking forward to scouting out a new area. If all else sucks there are casinos right across the river and I do enjoy a good session of gaming.

    Thanks!!!

Yup. The Clark Fork can produce some great numbers of pike but if youre looking for a monster I would focus on the root. There are definitely some big ones in the clark but overall I see better numbers of big fish in the root.
